What is the UKRI Digital Research Skills Catalyst?
The Catalyst is a new initiative designed to support researchers across the UK with cutting-edge digital training and expert advice. Funded by UKRI and led by Professor Emma Rand at the University of York, the project unites expertise from seven university partners.
The Catalyst brings together peer-reviewed training materials covering programming, statistics, machine learning, data stewardship, and more, alongside direct one-to-one support from research software engineers and data scientists. Training is available from foundational to advanced level, covering areas relevant to the BBSRC, MRC, EPSRC and NERC remits.

Policy Internship Scheme 2026/27 – Academy of medical Sciences
Our policy internship is designed to give students first-hand experience of the medical science policy environment, to gain insights into how research can impact on policy, and to build valuable networks with the UK’s most eminent medical scientists and key science and health stakeholders.
Applications are welcomed for 12-week internships taking place from July 2026 to June 2027. Applications will be considered as they come in
